Hi everyone,

 

As it was mentioned on the project and gpu instructions, the submit server has very limited computational budget and you should always use jobs for your tasks.

This also extends to tasks that don't require a GPU,  such as installing a conda environment or building libraries.

You can simply ask for an interactive job (as it's mentioned on the gpu instructions), and then run such tasks. You'll have more memory and CPU cores and things will run much faster. You can edit the .sub file to specify the number of GPU and CPUs you need for the interactive job. If you don't need any GPUs, editting the file will likely result in a quicker access.

Feel free to use the dedicated sub-forum if there were any questions.

 

You may now find your GPU-cluster credentials under your Personal Status page on CMS. We additionally have provided a brief introduction to the cluster, which can be found in the Materials section. The files includes a Markdown description with a sample script and show how one can submit a sample job to the cluster.

 

Lastly, there will be no tutorial on Monday June 17th.

The final exam for this course will be held on Wednesday August 21, 2024, and the re-exam will be held on Wednesday September 18, 2024. The final project presentations will tentatively be held in the week of August 5, 2024 - August 9, 2024.

 

Please note that the exam(s) and the final project presentation will only be conducted in-person. In particular, all team members are expected to be present for the project presentation.

You can now find Assignment 2 under the Materials tab on CMS.

The deadline for this assignment is May 27th 23:59 PM.

 

For this assignment, please upload the entire root directory of the assignment, as your solutions will be partly in the Notebook and partly in the imported modules.

Please also exclude the CIFAR-10 dataset file from your submission zip file.

On Monday May 13th, we will have a tutorial session from 10:15 in E1.4 024 discussing Assignment 2 to be released on the same day. Note that the room is different from last tutorial for this week!.

 

The submission portal on CMS for Assignment 1 is also open until May 13th 23:59. Therefore the solution for Assignment 1 will be discussed on the next tutorial (May 20th).

You can now find Assignment 1 in the Materials tab. The deadline for this assignment is 12.5.2024 23:59 CEST.

Please note that this assignment consists of two notebooks and both are part of the assignment.

The submission portal will open at a later point. Each team would need to submit a single zip file containing both notebooks as the solution.

Please also do not forget the team registration deadline May 6th.

Hi all,

 

A few updates regarding course material:

 

1. All relevant course material (lecture slides, tutorial slides, assignments, project instructions, etc.) will be uploaded in the CMS at: https://cms.sic.saarland/hlcvss24/materials/.
2. All lectures and tutorials this year will be in-person only and will not be recorded or streamed online. However, as an additional reference, we will provide video recordings of the closest related lecture from HLCV 2022 (if one exists) with the course materials (Lecture 1 has been uploaded already). Please note however that the contents of the lectures this year may substantially differ from those of HLCV 2022. We would also likely have lectures covering completely new topics for which no related recording exists. So the recordings will not cover all topics and should only be used as an additional reference, and we recommend that you attend all the lectures.
3. We have uploaded a sample exam from HLCV 2023 for reference. However, the topics, format, and types of questions in the exam this year may be different.
