Exam Regulations

Exams and Grade

  1. There will be two exams: a midterm and an endterm. Both exams will be held physically at Saarland University.
  2. The midterm will be on December 08, 10:00-12:00 in Lecture Hall 002, E1.3.
  3. The endterm will be on February 16, 14:00-16:00 in Lecture Hall 003, E1.3.
  4. Reexams will be oral. The reexams for the midterm will be in the first week of January. The reexams for the endterm will be in the last week of March. Their precise date and time has to be coordinated with the lecturer. If a student wants to take a reexam, it is their responsibility to contact the lecturer at least one week in advance.
  5. For each exam, make sure you are there 5 minutes early so you can be seated in time.
  6. To take part in the midterm, you must score at least 50% in the tests preceding the midterm.
  7. To take part in the endterm, you must score at least 33% in the midterm and at least 50% in the tests after the midterm preceding the endterm.
  8. Bonus points for the tests preceding the midterm (respective endterm) can be obtained by handing in correct Coq exercises.
  9. To get credit for the course, you need to score at least 50% of the sum of the points of the midterm and of the endterm.
  10. Your grade will be determined from the midterm and endterm such that both exams contribute 50%.
  11. In case of illness, you can be exempted from an exam. For this to happen, you must not participate in the exam and present us with a medical certificate within one week after the exam.

Exam Rules

  • Please bring your ID card and student ID card for identification.
  • Please don't open the exam booklet until you are asked to do so. After you have opened the exam booklet, it is your obligation to check whether it is complete.
  • You may only use the exam booklet that carries your name and matriculation. You have to write the exam on the seat with the number that is printed on your exam booklet.
  • No auxiliary means are allowed. At your desk, you may only have writing utensils, beverages, food, and ID cards. Bags and jackets have to be left at the walls of the lecture room.
  • If you leave the room without turning in your exam booklet, we have to judge it as an attempt of deception.
  • If you need to go to the bathroom during the exam, please turn in your exam booklet. Only one person may go to the bathroom at a time.
  • All solutions have to be put on the right hand side pages of the exam booklet. The empty left hand side pages may serve as draft paper and will not be corrected. No other paper is admitted.
  • No problem will be graded with less than 0 points.
  • Every attempt of deception will force us to exclude you from this exam and all following exams of this lecture. The University keeps a record of attempts of deception.
