Dear students,

The registration in the CMS for the second exam is now open.

Depending on the number of registered students, it will be an oral OR a written exam.

It will be on Monday, March 27 and it will start at 11:15. If it is an oral exam, your exact time slot does, of course, depend on the number of students attending.

To get an impression on how many students intend to attend the exam, please register immediately in CMS, so that we can decide which kind of exam to choose quickly.

In addition, you need to register in HISPOS until March 20, 23.59.

The results of the first exam are now available and can be accessed on your status page.

Exam inspection is on Wednesday, Feb 22, 9:00-9:30 in our seminar room (building E 1.1, room 3.06). There is no registration for the inspection, but come early so that you have enough time to look at your exam.

Dear Students,

In order to take the Planning exam you must register in two different systems: CMS and the admission system for your course of study). For HISPOS, this must be done until one week before the exam at the latest (February 7). We will keep CMS open until the end of this week.

1) CMS: We have just opened the registration in CMS. Please be aware that you will only be able to register if you have enough points in the programming projects.

2) HISPOS/VIPA: This depends on your course of studies. You should know if your course of studies is using one of these. If so, you need to register in the corresponding system. Students in course of studies that belong to HISPOS or VIPA and don't register there will not be allowed to take the exam. If you cannot register in HISPOS or VIPA, please write me (hoeller@cs.uni-saarland.de) once you register in CMS so that we keep track of the list of students that attend the exam without being in HISPOS or VIPA.

The exam is on the 15. February in HS003 in E1.3. at 9:00.

The lecture on exam preparation on Wednesday will be in person in E 1.1 Seminar room 3.06.

this is a reminder to enter your planner configuration in your repository. If the configuration is not present until Friday midnight, we will not be able to troubleshoot potential problems before the competition. For more details, please take a look at the competition description. The fifth paper exercise is now available in CMS. Submit your solutions to CMS, the deadline is January 20.

This time, Aleena will correct and discuss on the next tutorial only the exercises 11 and 12. Exercises 13 and 14 are concerned with landmarks and the LM-Cut heuristic that will be fully covered by lectures after the last tutorial. So, use these two exercises as a preparation for the exam and you will have an opportunity to ask questions about them during exam preparation lecture on February 8.

the results of the Additive and Max Heuristics project are now online. In case there exist any problems with the evaluation of this project, please contact me (Pascal Lauer). Tomorrow I will send you a short list of comments if I deducted points in your project.

Note that, if you want to work in groups from now on, you have to contact Thorsten or me with your group information until Sunday.

Dear students,

since the grading of the hmax and hadd projects may take a while and you need to know whether you passed the mandatory projects to form groups, we moved the deadline to form groups by one week to December 18th. Once you have formed a group, please do as instructed in the project description and do not forget to write an email to me or Pascal Lauer.

the results, of the Goal-Counting Heuristic project, are now visible. In case there exist any problems with the evaluation of this project, please contact Pascal Lauer.

Note that, in order to be admitted to the group phase (and exam), you will have to implement the Additive Heuristic (hadd) or Max Heuristic (hmax). You can find all details in the project description.

it was brought to our attention that the nightly tests from yesterday did not run or ran with a commit different the newest for some of you. The issue was on our side and should be fixed now. We just re-ran the nightly tests, so you should have received an email with the correct nightly test results in case you recently pushed a change. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Please, include your name and matriculation number in every file you submit, and if you decide to do some exercise in a group, then submit such exercise only once (or clearly indicate that it was submitted also by somebody else). This will make it easier for Aleena to correct your solutions.

Dear students,

the description of the programming projects has just been uploaded. You can find it under Information > Materials. There will be a workshop tomorrow (8th November, 12:15) providing you with an overview of the projects and a technical introduction. It is not required to read the description in order to attend the workshop.

Of course you can always ask questions in the forum and office hour. Please note that the office hour for next Wednesday was moved to 14:30-15:30.

Just a small reminder: Submitting paper exercises is not mandatory, but they are a good preparation for the final exam, and if you submit them in time, then you'll get a feedback from your tutor Aleena. The deadline for the first exercise is November 11, and you can submit your solutions as pdf/zip in CMS.
