Topics
The first, larger part of this course is an introduction to the classical theory of linear partial differential equations of second order:
-
General methods: well-posedness, separation of variables, distributions
-
Wave equation: d’Alambert’s solution, finite speed of information propagation, spherical means, Euler-Poisson-Darboux equation, Kirchhoff’s and Poisson’s formulae, Huygen’s principle in two and three dimensions
