FAQ
WEEKLY EXERCISE SHEETS:
- handed out after the lecture, Tuesday 11:45
- hand in before next Monday 23:59
- you can hand in your work by yourself or in groups of two to three people (recommended)
- Write the names of all team members on your submissions!
- find group members until Tuesday, October 27th, 11:45
- create / join a group on the Personal Status page
- if you have not found group members until then but would like to hand in exercise sheets in a group, please create a "group" on your own. You will be assigned to a new / existing group on Tuesday
- get help on the exercise sheet during the weekly tutorial sessions (Thursdays 10-12, room -1.05 in C7 2) or on the forum
- solutions will be uploaded at the beginning of the following week
- there will be minimal personal feedback, so make sure to cross-reference your submissions with the uploaded solutions yourself!
PASSING EXERCISE SHEETS:
Exercise sheets are passed by handing in solutions for all mandatory tasks on the exercise sheet. It is of secondary importance whether the solutions are correct.
We advise to refrain from using AI tools such as ChatGPT to complete the assignments for you, as this will hinder your learning progress. If you do use tools such as ChatGPT for exercises, you must declare precisely what and which parts of the exercise sheet they were used for. In cases of excessive AI use, you may be asked to show that you yourself understand the material in person, during the tutorial session. Should you fail to declare the use of AI tools on an exercise sheet or fail to demonstrate that you understand the material in person, the exercise sheet will be marked with a failing grade.
ADMISSION:
a listing of admitted students will be published before the exam. In general, the students that fall into the following categories are admitted:
(1) handed in & passed ALL of the weekly assignments (11/11)
(2) handed in & passed all of the weekly assignments EXCEPT ONE (10/11)
(3) handed in & passed all of the weekly assignments EXCEPT TWO (9/11) and did and handed in the MOCK EXAM
edge cases will be handled separately.

→ NOTE: if you are not admitted to the exam, you are also not permitted to take it on the second exam date
PRE-WS26/27 STUDY REGULATIONS (3CP):
If you're a BSc Computerlinguistik or BA Language Science student who began their studies before WS26/27 and has NOT switched to the new study regulations, you're taking the course for 3CP. You do not have to hand in assignments and are admitted to the exam by signing up for the course and notifying the tutor. However, we recommend doing the assignments throughout the course as practice for the exam.
EXAM:
1. First Exam Date: dd.mm.yyyy, time TBA (be there at ??:??!), Building TBA
→ registration deadline: TBA
2. Second Exam Date: TBA, 10:15-11:45 (be there at 10:00!), Building TBA
→ registration deadline: TBA (it is possible to sign up for the second exam date right away without participating in the first)
3. Permitted aids: - handwritten cheat sheet, both sides of a DIN-A4 sheet of paper, no restriction on content
- pocket calculator (NOT your phone, NOT a calculator capable of performing matrix-vector computations directly → no points for missing calculation steps).
