Midterm Retake Announcement

Written on 08.01.2025 10:20 by Marcel Maltry

Dear Students,

The midterm retake is approaching, and we want to provide you with all the necessary information. The framework for the midterm retake remains the same as for the original midterm and is outlined below for your reference. Please read this announcement carefully and post any questions on the forums.

Time

The midterm will take place on Saturday, January 11, at 12:15.

  • Arrive at least 15 minutes early to ensure a smooth start.
  • The exam will last 90 minutes.
  • Important: You are not allowed to leave the lecture hall during the final 30 minutes of the exam.

Room Allocation

The midterm retake will take place in GHH and E2 5, HS I. If you registered for the retake, you have already been assigned to a lecture hall. Your assignment can be found on your personal status page. Row and seat numbers are not relevant; you may sit in any seat with an exam.

Permitted Materials

You are allowed to bring:

  • One A4 sheet of handwritten notes (both sides), not printed!
  • A non-programmable calculator.
  • A document-safe pen (e.g., a ballpoint pen).

No additional materials are permitted. All other electronic devices, including phones, must be turned off and stored in your bags, which should be placed at the sides of the lecture hall. It should go without saying that such devices are not permitted at your seat during the exam. This rule will be strictly enforced. We will provide sufficient paper, so please do not bring your own.

What to Expect

The midterm retake will consist of three exercises similar to those in the assignments. Each exercise is designed to take approximately 30 minutes. As previously announced here, the exam will cover all material up to and including the week before the exam, as well as the content of Assignment 6. You are not expected to write Python code or memorize the implementations shown in the lecture. However, you may be asked to write pseudo-code to convey algorithmic ideas.

If you have further personal questions, feel free to email me. In case of general questions, please post them on the forums.

Wishing you much success,
Marcel
