Next semester there is going to be a seminar on "Computability in Mathematics", organized by our working group.

The seminar will include a basic introduction to general computability and then cover different problems originating from theoretical mathematics.

The seminar can be chosen both as a Seminar or Proseminar, Bachelor and Master students are equally encouraged to participate, no prior knowledge in Computer Science is required.

Algebra

This is a continuation of the courses Lineare Algebra I and II from previous semesters.

Topics will include

  • Group theory: Sylow theorems, solvable and nilpotent groups
  • Linear representations of groups
  • Ring theory
  • Field extensions and Galois groups

The class meets on Tuesdays 10:15–12:00 in Zeichensaal and Wednesdays 8:30–10:00 in SR6.

Tutorial session

The tutorial takes place on Fridays, 10:15-12:00 in Seminarraum 8 (318) in E2.4. It will be held by Robin Lahni (robin.lahni@t-online.de). The exercise sheets will be uploaded here.

 

Exam

In order to be admitted to the exam, you have to achieve 50% of the points on the exercise sheets, see also here. Please also keep track of your usual registration modalities (LSF, QISPOS) depending on your course of studies.
