Dear student,

as there was no new content covered this week, there will be no tutorial. We will, however, offer two office hours before the main exam, in particular:

Thursday, Feb 12, 10-11 in SR 106

Friday, Feb 20, 10-11 in SR 106

We also recommend reviewing the lecture slides as part of your exam preparation and consulting the textbook or readings as needed. Additionally, please revisit class and homework sheets, paying close attention to the feedback from your tutor, particularly on conceptual questions. If you find that you still have questions about content or assignemnts, please either post on the forum or come to one of the office hours.

For the exam, you are allowed to bring a hand-written (not printed!) 2-sided a4 cheat sheet. You should also bring a non-programmable calculator, exam questions will involve calculations. More information with regard to seating time, rooms etc will follow once registration is complete.

Your final exam admission status will show on cms beginning of next week.

we opened the registration on cms, please read the information pertaining to your case:

Students that can register on LSF/HISPOS:

Please make sure to register before February 17. Your registration status will NOT show correctly on cms, as we have to manually upload the list and will only do so once the registration period is over. Please note that admission to the exam will become available around February 4th, so you will have the chance to register/deregister afterwards.

Students that cannot register on LSF/HISPOS:

This should be mainly exchange students. Please note that you can only register on cms once you have admission. Your admission status will be final around February 4th, so you can safely wait until that date.

Next week, instead of a homework assignment, there will be an obligatory datacamp course.

Please be reminded that all obligatory datacamp courses must be completed to be admitted to the exam.

We will check your datacamp status for all obligatory courses exactly once, after the due date of the last one, because it requires some manual work. If you have not completed some of the obligatory courses (you can check under assignments on datacamp), please do so immediately.

In the materials section (week 11), you will find a mock exam. We recommend to work through it this week (leave out the question on Bayesian statistics). It is a good idea to record your time on it to get a realistic estimate of your preparedness for the exam.

The mock exam (except the question on Bayesian again) will be discussed during the tutorials next week, so please make sure to have solved it beforehand.

We have noticed several cases of AI usage in homework sheets. According to our modalities, this is not allowed and is treated as an attempt to deceive. We are obliged to report such cases to the examination office.

Note here that all members of a team are liable for the whole submission irrespective of what parts individuals contributed to.

Dear student,

as a number of you were struggling to finish the sheet today, we decided to allow you to modify your submissions until Saturday, 23:55. As before, only students that attended the tutorial and solved a good portion of it in person will receive credit.

Please take this as motivation to prepare adequately next week, as we will likely not choose this option again. Also note that a lot of groups DID manage to finish the sheet in time.

This week's tutorial sheet will be more challenging than the ones from previous weeks.

In general, you are expected to have read the course readings (usually in the Navarro book) AND have either attended the lecture, or reviewed the lecture slides. You are also expected to be up to speed with all topics covered in obligatory datacamp courses by now. This includes handling data with dplyr and creating different types of graphs using ggplot2.

Please note that if you come unprepared to the tutorial, you will likely not be able to finish in time.

We have received a couple of sick notes with the request to get credit for the class sheet. Please note that in general we do not give credit for missed class sheets. Our expectation is that class sheets missed due to illness, important appointments, personal reasons etc are covered by the two "free" misses granted. Only in the exceptional case, where these two were already used up and you have a legitimate reason to miss another class sheet, get in touch directly with Emilia Ellsiepen, providing your reason and a formal proof (doctor's note for sickness, appointment notification from Ausländerbehörde...).

We have finished the team groupings and everybody, who created a team for themselves should now be joined to an existing one (most grops have 3 members, but some have 2). If you are not yet part of a team, but do want to take the course for credit, please get in touch immediately. Students have to submit in teams, you are not allowed to work on your own, unless you are retaking the course.

And some information for students from previous years, that already obtained admission to the exam: Your cms profile for this year will not show your admission status until shortly before the exam registration deadline. You can check on your profile in last year's course. If you have not yet notified me that you are retaking the course, please do so. If you would like to submit assignments and get feedback, you may do so, but you are only allowed to work together with other retakers or you can work on your own. Reminder: you do not have to do the exercises again!

Some of you already found team partners in the first week's tutorial. To get started on the first obligatory class sheet right away next week, we will group everybody who remains before that. For us to know, who actually wants to be grouped (=wants to take the course for credit), we would ask you to please create an assignment team for yourself. We will merge then existing assignment teams within tutorials such that they all have 3 members.

Important: you have to create an assignment team for yourself until Monday night!

On a separate note: we are still thankfull for information from those students that do not want to take the course for credit, as we can than reassign their tutorial spots to other students.

Tomorrow morning, we will distribute all students that registered to the tutorials.

You might have noticed that there is a "no tutorial" option. This is strictly only meant for students that either have exam admission from previous years (please notify me, if you have not done so) or do not plan to take the course for credit.

Everybody, who needs exam admission still and wants to take the course for credit has to attend a tutorial to be able to fulfill the requirements, as class sheets are only counted of they are solved in person.

If you marked the "no tutorial" option as ok, this means that you can't take the course for credit. Please modify your choice today if needed.
