Hello,

I am glad my reminder on how important git is (“I also want to remind you at the end of the process to upload your scripts to the git we provided. We encourage you to use this git even now, because computers can crash and data can be lost, and having a backup in the git is very valuable in such cases.”) worked, and the gits are filled with your work.

We discovered, that you do not have permission to push on the main branch, therefore, please indicate in your thesis which branch and which commit includes your final submission status.

Keep in touch with your supervisor and good luck with further evaluation, creating presentations and writing.

Reminder:
The next deadline is February 28. Then you have to upload a first version of your presentation slides.

Kind Regards

Hello everyone,
We were very happy to receive your emails with your progress reports and questions. Here are a few general comments that we think are interesting for all of you:

The snippets were centered on the monitor (xres = 1920, yres = 1080) with their original resolution.
Here you can see the coordinate System: https://developer.tobiipro.com/commonconcepts/coordinatesystems.html

In case you calculate fixations and your fixation detection algorithm requires those parameters: freq = 250.0, scrSz = [55.0, 32.5], disttoscreen = 65
If you still have the feeling that the fixations do not match the snippet because they are shifted or "zoomed", this may be due to the quality of the eye tracker calibration. There are also solutions for moving/zooming them back more plausibly.
However, I would prefer that you (in general) first finalize your scripts with the imperfect data and then, if there is still time, look at fixation correction algorithms / manual methods and incorporate them as an intermediate step. This is an important step! Do not skip, just an idea for your internal work plan.

I also want to remind you at the end of the process to upload your scripts to the git we provided. We encourage you to use this git even now, because computers can crash and data can be lost, and having a backup in the git is very valuable in such cases.

Keep in touch with your supervisor and good luck with further evaluation, creating presentations and writing.

Reminder:
The next deadline is February 28, so in about two weeks. Then you have to upload a first version of your presentation slides.

Kind Regards

Hello,

the data sets have now been uploaded to Git repositories accessible to you.

Please use the Q and A session on Thursday if you have any technical questions about the data or Git before the holidays.

Unfortunately, the upload took longer than expected, so we have decided to extend the registration for the Q and A until Wednesday 16:00. This should give you enough time to take a look at the data.

We wish you a lot of fun evaluating the data, happy holidays and a happy new year.

Hello everybody,

I have been told that some of you are already eagerly waiting for the talk on how to find and access suitable literature. I don't want to keep you waiting any longer and have uploaded the talk to YouTube, where you can watch it at your own pace and listen to it again at any time during the semester. Note that

  • this also means that the next session on Thursday will be shorter to compensate for the viewing time;
  • you are welcome to send questions about the content to wyrich@cs.uni-saarland.de or your supervisor from now on. We may also publish a list of frequently asked questions together with their answers.
