Dear students, as announced in the discussion meeting, I am away on a conference and hence there will not be any lectures or tutorials in the upcoming week (19.-23.5.). Moreover, there is yet another holiday on 29.5. In particular, this has the following consequences:

  1. The deadline for H5 is longer than usual, you have two weeks instead of one.
  2. We discuss Unit 6 on 26.5., you do not have to prepare Unit 7 while I am away. (Of course, you can go as far ahead as you want if you have the time, but it's not necessary.)
  3. There is no C6 on 29.5., more assignments for this units have been distributed to later classroom and homework. Since the admission threshold is calculated based on 12 classroom works, everybody still receives 12 points for C6 without having to do anything.

If there are any urgent issues, feel free to write questions on Teams. I will still have an eye out for those while I am away. Don't worry, there is no compromise on content. I have already taken the collisions into account in the beginning of the semester. This is why we started early in the semester with the tutorials, such that you don't miss anything, and the workload is still evenly distributed.

Power Outage (28.4.), Replacement Tutorial Slot

As I write this news on Monday morning, there is an ongoing power outage on the campus. I will try to still conduct a hybrid Q&A meeting in the usual time slot if possible, but we might be limited to the on site meeting.

Furthermore, a little reminder that there is a holiday on 1.5., so there are no tutorials. Everyone receives the 12 class room points for this week unconditionally, you do not need to send solutions. Optionally, you are invited to join me in our usual replacement slot Wed 8:30-10 in HS001 for the class room work. You can join this replacement tutorial regardless of your placement in tutorial 1 or 2.

Replacement Meeting, Homework Assignment

Written on 20.04.25 by Pascal Peter

Just a little reminder: Due to the holiday, there is no meeting on Monday, 21.4. Instead, we will have a replacement meeting on Wed, 23.4., 8:30-10 in HS001 (or online).

Also, the first homework assignment is due 21.4., 23:59. You can submit it via your personal status page on CMS.

  2. Rule change: If you cannot participate in the tutorials, you may also submit solutions to the class room assignments instead to receive the 12 participation points. This is intended as a compromise solution and tutorial participation is still encouraged. Submitted classroom submissions will not be graded and no feedback will be given. You receive the full 12 points if your submission documents a reasonable attempt at solving the assignments. Include them in the zip archive for the corresponding homework submission.

  3. Small rule change: Groups of 4 are now also accepted. However, this is the absolute limit, groups of >5 are not allowed, also not on request.

  4. If you have participated in the group roulette, you should have received a mail by now. Please reply to this mail until tomorrow, 16.12., 16:00 if you consent to your CMS mail address to being forwarded to your group members. Please also inform me if you have received a roulette assignment, but dropped the course or joined a group outside of the roulette.

Since some students reported troubles with video access on Teams, I am uploading the videos in zip archives to CMS as well (material category 06 at the bottom). Currently, there is a large demand for course registration and temporarily the course migh run full. Due to our limited tutorial resources, I cannot open up arbitrary many slots. If you have already registered and decide that you won't take the course, please either change your personal status to "No, I am  not going to take the exams/participate in the tutorials." if you want to keep access to the lecture materials or deregister from the course. This will help opening up additional slots for your fellow students. If you could not register yet, please check back regularly if new slots have opened up. If this situation persists for a longer period of time, I might consider other options like a waiting list.

Regarding access to Teams and the video materials, please follow this guide after you have registered for the course in the CMS.
