Dear students,
I hope you are doing well.
Grades for Assignment 01 are now available.

For the upcoming assignments, please note:
Theory assignments: Handwritten solutions will no longer be accepted and will receive zero points. (For Assignment 01, we only applied a small deduction.) Please also make sure your PDF renders correctly. Expressions like 2^x or \sum_x^y are LaTeX syntax, not mathematical notation. Submissions with unrendered notation will lose points.
Programming assignments: Please follow the required output format and remove any additional print statements.

First quiz: The first quiz will take place on 24.11 and 25.11 during the tutorial sessions. You may attend either session.
As mentioned before, the quiz has a theory part and a programming part, both based on the subtasks you attempted. For example, if you solved 1.1 and 1.2 but not 1.3, you might be asked about 1.1 or 1.2 not 1.3. If you have not attempted any assignment (apart from Assignment 00), you will be given a random task. Since all solutions are published in the course materials, you can still prepare for it.

Possible question types include:
  • solving a question as it appeared in the assignment
  • explaining your solution or code in more detail
  • fixing a mistake in your solution
  • explaining how your solution would change if some details were modified

Best wishes,
Moein

  2. Extended deadline (one-time exception!). Following individual requests, I am extending both the course registration and the deadline for submitting Assignment-00 to today, 20.10.2026, 23:59. If you plan to take this course this semester, please register and submit the assignment by then. Do not expect any other deadline to be extended.

    • For reference, only 17 of the 55 enrolled students have submitted Assignment-00, which is required (!) to pass the course.

  3. CMS changes.

    • I removed a redundant registration step inside the CMS, which confused several students. Only 28 of the 55 enrolled students had completed it, and it had no effect on anything anyway.
    • I also added an option to unregister from the course in the CMS until 01.11.2026. I don't mind if you stay registered without submitting anything. But if unregistering is more convenient for you, you can now do it.

Best regards,
Alexey Gurevich
